I bought this book after first checking it out from the library. It’s rare that I find a cookbook worth buying. This though has quite a few recipes that I have tried and liked and I know I will use more. The recipes are easy to follow and don’t require a lot of ingredients. Other benefits include: easy to read, visually pleasing, additional suggestions for each recipe to play with flavors and to get kids involved, helpful information on oils, spices, vegetables on how to buy them and how to use them, helpful information on what equipment and basics to keep in a kitchen. This would be a great cookbook for someone just learning to cook or for someone who wants to add healthy flavors and dishes to their diet.
I am so pleased with my purchase. At first glance, the food looks amazing! I made my first dish this afternoon and am completely blown away by the simplicity and the deliciousness. Some of these recipes look a little intimidating at first, but there's so many tips and tricks the author included to be able to adjust the recipe to your liking. I am thrilled to have this be part of my family's cookbook collection, I can't wait for my boys to help make some of these dishes! I'd give it 6 stars if I could. Definite must by if you're a frugal, health-conscious parent with a little time to spare in the kitchen after a long day.
This book is great! I loved "The Family Dinner Book". This is a great follow up. The breakfast recipes alone are worth buying the book for. Lots of great ideas for busy families who want to eat healthy. All of the recipes have fresh ingredients - and not too many ingredients! I love the purple "k's" throughout the book that signify that the recipe includes ways for kids to help.
Amazing cookbook. I read it from cover to cover as it's essential read in friendly tone. Changed my way of thinking about food and family, pressure to turn out impressive dinners. I've tried almost all recipes in this book. Easy to follow, very refreshing perspective. Love all the side notes how to make variations or to involve kids. I've gifted it to a few friends. Couldn't be happier.
Great book. Inspiring ideas when you get in a rut. Simple healthy practical food but with always with a twist that make it a treat. Uploaded a pic of "goldilocks" chopped salad. Mom has devoured hers. Child portion attached. And the best part? Keeps in the fridge for 3 days and be repurposed in all sorts of ways.

A nice wide range from breakfast to dinner, drinks and desserts as well as everything in between.The book itself is aesthetically pleasing, the instructions are easy to follow, and the tips have saved dinner more than once. A cookbook designed to promote family participation in cooking, the recipes have pointers for how to get the kids involved and many of them have a "Play With It" section at the bottom of the page with suggestions for how to substitute or add fun little flairs to each recipe.This is the gold standard of cookbooks: fun, wholesome, relatively healthy, and inclusive. Absolutely the first cookbook I reach for when I'm in the mood to have a little fun in the kitchen and ignore the rush of life for a while.
