This is such a fantastic way to learn United States Geography and History! Although it says Grades 7+, I am using it with my 9 yr. old daughter along with the Travel Dreams Journal (also from The Thinking Tree) combined with our FIAR (Five in a Row) studies. Because my daughter is only 9, she is not doing it 100% independently. There are some portions she can do on her own like the map, drawing a monument, drawing the flag etc. For other parts that require more writing, (like the Historical facts section) we are doing that together, where she tells me some facts that stood out to her from her Atlas or a book we read and I write them in for her. We are also taking more time on each State...not doing an entire state in one day. We are using the National Geographic Beginners U.S. Atlas as well as The 50 States: Explore the U.S. with 50 Fact-filled Maps by Gabrielle Balken. We may also read a state specific book from the Library or on the Epic App. It's truly such a fun way to learn! No boring textbooks.States are arranged alphabetically and every state covers the following:-mapping (find and label the capitol city and other major cities, important landmarks, national parks, major highways and/or rivers etc)-state facts (motto, flag, population, seal)-things to see-a famous quote-draw a monument-popular foods-famous people-Current events-design a postage stamp-a page for watching a movie or documentary and reading a book that takes place in that state.-a place to record historical facts, a place to record ''What Do You Want to Do In____'Make the switch to Fun-Schooling with The Thinking Tree Journals! You will LOVE it!

Too expensive (twenty-five dollars) for what you get. This book is worth 10-12 dollars. It is all black and white. You can definitely make this book yourself for a fraction of the cost. For homeschoolers who are on a budget and have a little extra time, do it yourself. For those who have no time and money to burn, this book is for you.

It's set up as a lot of busy work, which I don't love, but it does offer a nice clean format for diving in a little deeper with every state in the union. I'm not a crafty or worksheet style of homeschool parent, so I'm not fond of the fill-in-the-blank structure, but we don't have to use it that way. We pull out the pages we need when we need them. Getting ready to use on a road trip.

Each state has several pages to fill in information about that state, including coloring the state on a US map, adding landmarks and cities and the capital to a large map of the state, a place to draw things you'd like to visit from that state, and more. We are collecting postcards from every state and are adding them into our journals as well. This will be a great keepsake of their geography learning.

I really like this quite a bit. We have gone through several curriculums for homeschooling and this one really has caught the interest of my children because they have a lot of options to choose to study what they are interested in.

Love this! It has 6 pages dedicated to each of the 50 states. We are using it to go along with our homeschool US History course. We change it up a little to fit our needs but with the way it's made, that's definitely doable!! We use a lot of videos in the place of some of the books and movies.

I bought this on a half off sale for $13.68 and it is well worth it!! There are several blogs and companies that make state studies or notebooking pages for such, but these are creative and thorough. Doesn't just cover capital, flag, bird, etc but leaves space for a movie and book about the state, map for physical and political items, Includes famous people, short history blurb, and foods, etc!! So much more than what I have seen in other state study products, and trust me I have seen several in my 10 years of homeschooling!!!

You will not find another US geography book better than this one! It's a hands-on fill-it-in book with about 6 pages per state. It's all in alphabetical order, which you can do that way or jump around to whatever state you want. Because you're filling it in yourself, I find that my kiddo (almost 11) is remembering more details than when using other programs and books. We will be getting the world country's book by the same publisher. Great job!
